East African Region Forum on Access to Labour Markets for Refugees

Refugee Consortium of Kenya will host the East African Region Forum on Access to Labour Markets for Refugees in partnership with the IKEA Foundation. This important gathering aims to foster meaningful dialogue and develop concrete actions to advance the full inclusion of refugees in Kenya’s labour market. The forum will bring together key stakeholders to address critical focus areas: examining policy environments and legal frameworks that enable refugee employment; identifying practical solutions to overcome barriers to labour market access; fostering collaborative approaches between sectors; and establishing mechanisms to ensure accountability and measure impact. Through panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities, participants will explore how to create more inclusive economic systems that recognize refugees’ skills and potential. The forum represents a significant opportunity to translate principles of refugee rights into tangible employment opportunities that benefit both displaced populations and host communities.
