Dr. Samuel Kabue

Chairperson and Member of the Board
Dr. Samuel Njuguna Kabue is a distinguished governance leader and human rights advocate with over four decades of experience advancing inclusive development and social justice across Africa and the global community. He serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK), bringing to the role deep expertise in human rights policy, board leadership, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. Previously he served as Executive Secretary of the Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN) under the World Council of Churches, and holds board positions with the Eastern Africa Federation of the Disabled (EAFOD) and previously with the Christoffel Blinden Mission (CBM). He played a pivotal role in the development of Kenya’s National Disability Policy and the Persons with Disabilities Act 2003, and served as Kenya’s delegate to the UN Ad Hoc Committee that produced the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
 
Dr. Kabue holds three postgraduate degrees, including a Master of Theology from St. Paul’s University, a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Birmingham, and a Master of Education from the University of Nairobi. He was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity (Honoris Causa) by Serampore University, India, in recognition of his transformative contributions to ecumenism and disability inclusion. His exceptional service to the nation was recognised with the Presidential Head of State Commendation (HSC) in 2006 and the National Ecumenical Leadership and Service Award by the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) in 2007.
 
His multidisciplinary expertise in governance, human rights, and social justice makes him an outstanding steward of RCK’s mission to protect and advocate for refugees in Kenya.

Ms. Abi Gitari

Trustee, Founder, Founding member and Member of the Board
Abi Gitari has worked as the Country Representative for the Jesuit Refugee Service and also as an Executive Director at RCK. She served as a Board Member of the Nairobi Archdiocese Refugee Assistance Program. Mrs. Abi has vast experience in refugee protection spanning over 30 years within Eastern Africa and internationally. She holds a Masters in Gender and Development and a B.A. in Political Science.

Mr. Anthony Joseph Hombe

Mr. Hombe is a Member of the RCK Board of Directors. He has vast experience in banking, having held various positions within the banking sector. He is a businessman and supports the Board of Directors on financial matters within the organization.

Mr. Morris Maina

Member of the Board
Morris Maina is the Chief Executive Officer at TransUnion Kenya. Maina has over 20 years of leadership experience across key sectors. He previously worked for Safaricom Ltd and Microsoft. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) -Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.

Dr.Mary Amuyunzu Nyamongo

Dr. Mary Amuyunzu-Nyamongo is a distinguished public health scholar, social anthropologist, and development practitioner with over three decades of leadership experience in health research, policy advocacy, and institutional governance across Kenya Africa and Globally.
Her expertise spans health research, including non-communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, HIV/AIDS, adolescent sexual health, child health, immunisation, gender-based violence, and social protection. These competencies are directly relevant to the humanitarian and protection mandate of the Refugee Consortium of Kenya.
Dr. Amuyunzu-Nyamongo brings a powerful combination of academic rigor, policy influence, and grassroots development experience that will strengthen RCK’s strategic direction and advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya.
