Kiama oversees the legal aid, advocacy, and research and information programmes for asylum seekers, refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees. Previously, Lucy was the Senior Programme Advisor for Gender Based Violence & Human Rights at the GIZ Kenya. Lucy also worked as a Programme Manager at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital, managing the Gender Violence Recovery Centre. While at GIZ, Lucy provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Health to develop the National Guidelines on Management of Sexual Violence (2010). Lucy holds a Masters of Arts in Gender and Development Studies and a Bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Nairobi. She represents RCK and the interests of Global South agencies dealing with humanitarian issues at the board of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) EXCOM.
Lucy is also the East African representative of the International Advisory Board of the International Detention Centre (IDC). She is in the international advisory board of the Forced Migration Review (FMR) of Refugee Studies Centre, Oxford University. Lucy is also an alumni of the International Summer School course on Forced Migration from the Refugee studies centre of Oxford University.

Simon Konzolo, Senior Programme & Advocacy Officer
Konzolo is a lawyer by training and in charge of the advocacy programme at RCK. He deputizes and supports the Executive Director in coordinating the work of the programmes. Konzolo has had post graduate training on international refugee and human rights law at the American University in Cairo, Egypt; training on policy advocacy at the MS Training Centre in Development Cooperation - Arusha, Tanzania and a certificate course on forced migration from the Refugee Studies Centre, Oxford University, United Kingdom amongst others. Konzolo previously worked at the Institute for Education in Democracy (IED) and has experience in civic education, election monitoring and management. He has also worked as a consultant on governance and democracy at the Projects & Allied Management services consultancy firm. Konzolo has over 5 years of experience in forced migration matters and has been involved in capacity building on the protection of displaced in different sectors within Kenya.![]() |
Leila Murithia Simiyu, Programme Officer - Legal Aid, Nairobi
Leila is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a degree in Law from the University of Nairobi. She has experience preparing children in need of protection for pre-trial briefing, including providing advice on procedures. She enjoys training on children's rights and gender issues and has experience in providing legal aid to vulnerable groups in society.

Charles Mugendi Njanga - Information and Research Officer, Nairobi
A communications professional with over 15 years experience in the country and the region. Charles holds a Bachelors degree in Communication and Sociology from the University of Nairobi. He also has a Diploma in Radio Production Techniques from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), among other qualifications. His professional experience has been gained as a producer in various radio and television stations. Njanga was one time a Station Manager for JRS Radio Kwizera in Tanzania that broadcasted to refugees and locals. Locally, Njanga has worked with the Nation Media Group and Royal Media services as a news editor. Charles has also worked as an independent contractor for the BBC Monitoring unit in Nairobi and a as a lecturer at KIMC in Nairobi. He is also trained in the area of research and message design/development in the field of communication.

Martin Pepela - Programme Manager, Kakuma
Martin has a LLB Law from Moi University, a post-graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law and a certificate in Advanced Refugee Law from the American University of Cairo. He has worked as a practising advocate for two years with Maina Mburu Company and Advocates, undertaken a Graduate Internship Programme with World Vision Kenya on Child Rights Advocacy before joining RCK where he has been for the last 3 years. Martin established the field offices in Kakuma and Dadaab and currently heads the Kakuma office.

Catherine Njoroge - Programme Manager, Dadaab
Catherine is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds an LL.B degree from the University of Nairobi; a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law; a Post Graduate Diploma in the International Training Program ‘Human Rights Towards Gender Equality’ from Uppsala University and Swedish Institute for Public Administration (SIPU) in Sweden; a Post Graduate Diploma in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies from the American University in Cairo; and various certificate courses. Prior to joining RCK, Catherine worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Protection and Eligibility units respectively. Since joining RCK, she established an office for protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Molo, Rift Valley Province. She has also worked to develop the office in Daadab which she currently heads. Her career interests include peace, development and gender issues.
Peter Karera – Project Assistant, Kakuma
Peter Chris Karera is the Project Associate for the RCK Kakuma office. Karera is specially tasked with the implementation of the Refugees United Project. Karera studied Law at the University of Nairobi. He is interested in Human Rights Law and refugee protection.

Diana Wambui - Psychosocial Counselor, Legal Aid Programme, Nairobi
Diana is a trained counselor with experience in family and marriage therapy, SGBV issues and mediation and counseling vulnerable women and children having worked with FIDA for three years before joining RCK. She holds a higher diploma in Counseling Psychology and family therapy, certificates in HIV/AIDS counseling and Mediation and is currently pursuing a degree in Education.

Peter Nyambu - Accounts Assistant and Procurement Officer
Peter holds a Kenya Accounts Technician's Certificate and CPA Part 1. He is currently pursuing CPA Part 2. He has been doing Accounts and Procurement for 3 years with RCK having worked in the commercial sector as an Accounts Assistant for two years prior. He holds a certificate on Forced Migration from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Imaana Fredrick Koome - Assistant Programme Officer - Legal Aid Programme, Dadaab
Koome is an Honours Law graduate from Moi University, Eldoret and holds a post graduate Diploma in law from the Kenya School of law. He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a keen interest in International Human Rights Law and generally the concept of human rights. Before joining RCK, he worked as a legal assistant in a law firm. Specifically, at the national level he is interested in advocacy on the rights of both refugees and asylum seekers. His other areas of interest include, Environmental Law and Regulation. He believes that there cannot be any sustainable development without the protection of the environment.

Dennis Likule - Assistant Programme Officer, Legal Aid Programme, Nairobi
Dennis is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds a Bachelors of Law degree (LLB) from Moi University, Kenya and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He has plenty of experience in the field of human rights, legal aid and research having been involved with several human rights initiatives and organizations. He is the founder and member of Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care (KHPCA) Legal Aid Scheme. He has worked in private practice with Mulondo, Oundo, Muriuki and Co. Advocates. His areas of interest are human rights, constitutional law and transitional justice.

Githumbi Wanjiku Fresiah – Assistant Programme Officer, Legal Aid Programme, Nairobi
Fresiah holds a LLB from Makerere University, Uganda, a post-graduate diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law and is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. Previously she held the position of associate advocate in the firm of Mithega & Co. Advocates in charge of civil and criminal litigation and commercial law matters. She has a keen interest in children matters and vulnerable groups.

Jane holds an LLB degree and a Bachelor of Social Legislation from Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, India and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with enormous knowledge and experience in human rights, criminal law, civil law, children matters and commercial law amongst others. Before joining RCK, she worked as an Associate in the firm of Wanjiku Nduati & Co. Advocates. Jane has a passion for humanitarian work and believes in protecting the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups.
Riva Jalipa – Programme Associate, Advocacy Programme, Nairobi
Riva studied LLB at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the Kenya School of Law. Riva has been working to expand the child protection and research activities within RCK. She is interested in governance and community work.
Hodan Hassan, Social Worker, Legal Aid Programme, Nairobi
Hodan has a BA in Social Work from the University of Nairobi. She has experience counselling and rehabilitating street children with Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund and persons with disabilities at the National Spinal Injury Hospital. She has a diversity of experience working in refugee issues from interpretation, social work, counselling, assisting in legal aid interventions. She hopes to further her studies in Gender and Development.

Millicent is a trained counselor with experience in Behavior Change and Behavior Formation Processes. She has over three years experience with Education For Life - Kenya, working with various groups including, people living with HIV/Aids, orphans and vulnerable children, community leaders and youth. She holds a higher Diploma in Counselling Psychology, an Advanced Diploma in Community Development and certificates in HIV/AIDS training, VCT training and Training Of Facilitators. Rufus holds a BA in Political Science and Communication from the University of Nairobi. Prior to joining RCK, he worked at South Consulting as a Research Officer monitoring Agenda III and IV issues under the KNDR framework. He also worked as an intern at Kenya Human Rights Commission attached to the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Programme and the Research Department. He has a great interest in human rights advocacy work and peace and conflict management.
Aurelia Munene, Psychosocial Counselor Legal aid Programme- Dadaab
Aurelia has a Bachelor of Arts Psychology & Sociology at the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Community Health Nursing (General Nursing, Midwifery and Community Health) from the Kenya Medical Training College. She has successfully worked as a Nurse in HIV/AIDS &TB programs at Medecins Sans Frontieres- France- Mathare Program and at Eastern Deanery AIDS relief Program. She has also worked as an Organizational Development and HIV/AIDS advisor with Voluntary Service Overseas- based in Benue State Nigeria. She is an alumnus of the Sexuality Development Leadership Fellowship Program at the African Sexuality Resource Centre –Lagos Nigeria. She is also an alumnus of MASHAV Care and support of Children affected by HIV/AIDS course at the Gor Meir Institute Haifa- Israel. She has been trained on Counseling skills Adults and children at the Embulbul Counseling Center Nairobi. Other skill areas include Strategic planning and management of projects, trainer of trainers, community mobilization, participatory learning and action approaches. She is interested Child Protection, Mental health, Research, Sexuality & Gender.
Havana Edna Nimboro Gari, Assistant Program Officer - Legal Aid, Kakuma
Havana is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She studied an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science in Oklahoma, USA, a LLB Degree (Honours) University of Wolverhampton, London United Kingdom and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She completed her Pupillage at the firm of Miller & Company Advocates and also has experience in the Probate & Administration Department (Succession Law) at the firm of Mohamed Madhani & Co. Advocates before joining RCK. Havana will be specialising in SGBV and Refugee law. She enjoys volunteer work, travelling, reading, sports, playing guitar and the saxaphone.
Dinah Makambi- Assistant Program Officer, Legal Aid program- Dadaab
Dinah is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Moi University and a graduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She has worked as an intern at Christian Legal Education Aid and Research (CLEAR) International, and also undertook the Graduate Internship Program at World Vision East Africa Regional Office under the Policy and Advocacy department. She is interested in advocating for the rights of refugees and other forced migrants through policy influencing, capacity building and legal aid.

Eunice is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a LLB from Kampala International University, Uganda and a post-graduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
