RCK Statistics

Answer

RCK runs a legal aid clinic for asylum seekers and refugees 3 days a week. Although it is our wish to serve more clients in a day, we are only able to attend to a maximum of 30 clients on a daily basis due to the staffing levels that our budget allows. The Legal Clinic opens for attendance on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursdays and Fridays are reserved for case follow ups and other administrative matters of the Legal Clinic.

RCK has successfully represented over 40 clients in court (by the end of the third quarter, 2005) and many more in the police stations. Five of these cases already had deportation orders made in their respect. Last year (2004) the RCK successfully handled 26 cases in courts on behalf of refugees.

The RCK legal clinic handles an average of 310 clients a month. 75 of those interviews lead to a second in-depth security interview establishing whether the client needs to be resettled in a third country. In 90 % of the cases that is the outcome.
