Most refugees, who are arrested, taken to court and charged, usually under charges of unlawful presence in Kenya, are commonly ordered to be deported upon serving sentences. RCK provides assistance to refugees and asylum seekers at police stations and represents them in court.

RCK further conducts monitoring visits to places of detention i.e. police stations and prisons.
